Getting back acne from sweat? Learn how to deal with it
With the literally scorching heat nowadays, sweating profusely has become a normal occurrence in one’s life. Unfortunately, excessive sweating for me equals back acne (sometimes referred to as bacne).
Getting acne on your back is not unusual; however it’s much harder to deal with. I’m not even sure if you can use medications like acnepril for it. Anyway, I did some research on how to deal with back acne due to sweat and here’s a few tips I encountered which might help you as well: ^_^
- For those prone to sweat, especially for athletes and those who exercise in the gym, it is best to use non-clinging, light clothing like cotton. Materials like lycra and wool should be avoided as they trap the sweat and also irritates the skin aggravating the problem.
- It is a must to remove the sweat, so make sure you shower whenever you get really sweaty. It would also help if you use soap and a scrub to wash off that dirt and grime. When using a back scrub though, make sure you are very gentle – the last thing you need is to break open the acne sores and help the infection spread.
- Changing your shirt a couple of times a day, especially during the hot season, helps to prevent bacteria from building up, as well as removing any sweat or dirt that has accumulated on the shirt.
- Even with all these precautions, you might still find yourself with a bad outbreak of back acne. Generally either tetracycline or minocycline are recommended. You could also treat the acne on your back by using a cleanser containing salicyclic acid and apply medicines containing benzoyl peroxide. However, before applying any medication, do consult your dermatologist first.
