The Living Room

Author: wisteria
06 16th, 2008

Your living room is one of the most important rooms in your house. This is the room that your guests most often see, and it’s most probably one of the factors that help people know who you are. If it’s messy or clean, then your room speaks for you.

The coffee table that you choose to put in your living room helps a lot in projecting an image for the whole living room so make sure you put a lot of effort in choosing coffee tables.

Also, try looking for a sofa set that matches the coffee table that you chose or vice versa. Remember: Your living room is who you are! (I made that up. Haha!)

My Brother’s Choice

My brother occupies the biggest room at home, it’s his choice. He had arranged and decorated it similar to a suite in a five-star hotel, again it is his choice. Recently, he bought flat LCD and plasma TV. This equipment is on the lcd mount (desktop/Table top Pedestal). He is also using this LCD for contemporary monitor. Similarly, these were all his choices. However, this one is my choice, I love to stay in my brother’s room especially when I want to watch movies and my favorite TV series. Luckily, I have a brother who always had a good choice.

Your stay in the United States of America will not be complete unless you see the Statue of Liberty in person. The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of American freedom. The statue which is a representation of a woman holding aloft a torch that stands at the entrance to New York Harbor was designed by sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi.

If you want to see more of the historic places and tourist spots in New York, follow the advice of my Aunt Virgie. She highly recommended availing of the service being offered by CitySights NY (http://www.citysightsny.com) so as to maximize the limited time during short vacation. My other relatives who adhered to her advice had so many exciting and memorable experiences in New York to share. What is unique in this CitySights NY is the use of a very comfortable double decker that will give you a view at a vantage position as you move from one place to another. This sightseeing company has daily trips to Boston, Washington DC and Philadelphia.

You too will have those experiences and don’t forget to bring your video and digital cameras to document the Statue of Liberty in person, as well as the other places in New York.

I recently encountered one of my sister’s friends who’s an antique collector. His collections are mainly comprised of sculpture and paintings. He gave us a tour at his house and I was amazed at the pieces he has displayed which obviously came from various parts of the globe.

He attested to the fact that he bought a lot of his collections from his trips around the world. This is quite fascinating considering that shipping IS expensive. I should know because I regularly send birthday gifts to my friends abroad. Anyhow, I asked why he bother to buy expensive, delicate pieces outside the country when shipping and Fine Art Storage would definitely cost a lot. He chuckled and said, fine art is priceless. The fact that he was able to purchase it was already a blessing. He furthered that shipping and storage was not really that much of a problem for him especially since there are great services like the ones offered by http://www.imaginemindseye.com.

I wasn’t familiar with that site, so I immediately searched the net as soon as I got home. As expected, that company really does offer great services for fine art shipping, storing, or displaying. To cap it off, their service can definitely be considered the finest because of their customized “build-to-suit” approach ensuring that their service meets your needs and budget.

Well, should I decide to collect some fine art pieces myself, I’ll definitely avail of their service.

To celebrate Anne’s successful thesis defense today, my mom gave her two tickets to Madrid, a great city of monuments, to have more insights about the Spanish art. Her thesis is basically about the relativism in the art of a particular country.

Excited about the trip, Anne already created a list of destinations and of course, started booking in one of the hotels in Madrid which she selected based from some hotel updates. Her main target places are the “Golden Triangle” which consists of The Prado (considered as the most famous Madrid art gallery which houses an extensive collection of works from the 12th - 19th centuries), the Reina Sofia (hosts contemporary artworks and a lot of Picasso pieces including Guernica), and Thyssen-Bornemisza (contains paintings ranging from Durero, Titian, Goya, Degas, Renoir, to Kandinsky or Rothko, that are hailed as the best private collection of 13th to 20th century art).

She asked me to join her there especially since she knows I’m willing to split the Madrid lodging fee with her. Unfortunately, I have important scheduled meetings during her trip. I asked her to just take several pictures and buy some souvenirs for me.

I love festivals. I love those events to the point of sometimes asking my friends to invite me to stay at their place for any festival.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any friends who live in Perth, Australia so I can cheaply participate in the upcoming Perth International Arts Festival. The closest is Melbourne Accommodation care of my cousin. He also manages some Hotels in Adelaide so if I want to be nearer Perth, he said he could give me some discounts in one of those hotels. Due to the distance barrier (Adelaide to Perth), I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy the Festival at all. It would be costly too to commute, so I declined. I ended up booking in one of the Hotels in Perth.

In case you don’t know, the Perth International Arts Festival is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere, and it annually offers some of the world’s best theatre, music, film, visual arts, street arts, literature and free community events. With that information, I’m sure you now understand why I want to be in Perth, Australia sometime from February 8 to March 2, 2008 for the said event. Hope to see ya there!

Often referred to as Australia’s “sporting and cultural capital”, Melbourne City boasts great events, a passion for food and wine and a remarkable arts scene.

With a wide range of events and festivals in Melbourne, all those with artistic appetite are sure to drool. Some of the non-stop program of festivals hosted in this city are the Australian Open Tennis, Australian Grand Prix, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, and of course, Melbourne International Arts Festival.

For people who want to see, breathe and live the arts, and are thinking twice about the expense, you don’t need to worry much about finding Accommodation in Melbourne because there are many Cheap Melbourne Hotels. Moreover, those Melbourne Hotels, though cheap, offers quality services and are located in prime places.

From grand opera and grand prix, to cheap accommodation, Melbourne offers it all.

My CEO, Philip, is a Dutch-Filipino citizen. With the three years I’ve worked with him, I heard a lot about Enschede (his hometown) and Amsterdam (the capital city of the Netherlands) aside from the usual tasty cheese, windmills and renowned tulips or flower bulbs.

With my curiosity piqued, I decided to do some more research about the Netherlands and found out that, although the country is not that big, it is well-known for a lot of exceptional museums such as the Stedelijk Museum and the Rembrandt House Museum. There’s also the Van Gogh Museum, which houses the largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings in the world. Anne Frank House is also a popular tourist attraction.

Oh, and let’s not forget Amsterdam’s famous red-light district*, de Wallen (window prostitution is legal here at specific places), and the coffee shops that sell cannabis (not completely legal but is tolerated when only about 5 grams are involved).

Interested? Plan your vacation and reserve your accommodation at online travel services. Whether you are looking for a luxurious accommodation, a cheap hotel, or even a Schiphol hotel (Amsterdam airport hotel), I suggest you take a look at easyToBook.com.

* A red-light district is a neighborhood where prostitution and other businesses in the sex industry flourish.

THE new york tour

I love Sex and the City. It’s about four chic female New Yorkers who gossip about their sex-lives (or lack thereof) and find new ways to deal with being a woman in the 90’s. Though I’ve missed a few episodes, I made sure I’ve watched all the best ones.

What I love best about this TV-Series is the way it featured New York. In fact, it made New York so alluring that I simply just have to personally check out the 50 most memorable locations visited by Carrie and her friends.

Since I’ve never been there, I decided to browse the net for a sightseeing tour. I like the packages being offered in New York City Tours. Especially since they do not only provide tours in motorcoaches and new double-decker buses, they also offer NY harbor cruises and helicopter rides around Manhattan. Imagine that!

To cap it off, they actually have a “Sex & The City Hot Spots” Tour! I almost fainted when I saw this.

The tour, which only costs 38 USD, includes over 40 locations. Also, you get to sit on Carrie’s apartment stoop, shop at The Pleasure Chest, go on location to the gallery in SoHo where Charlotte worked, and probably even visit Prada and Manolo Blahnik! Hmmm… I wonder if the tour also includes places like Madison Square, Staten Island Ferry, Boathouse Central Park, Fountain at Columbus Circle, Chelsea Piers, Church of the Holy Trinity and Nell’s? I’ll give them a ring later.

Oh, in case you’re interested, online customers receive $5 off per ticket. 0;)
