A lot of people have problems with their bodies—mostly weight problems. We’re not contented with what we have since all we see in television are those anorexic models and we all want to be like them. Most of us can’t sleep thinking of ways on how to lose weight. Well, if you just observe a healthy lifestyle like, having enough rest and actually even eating the right kind of food. I know you can’t avoid junk food or processed food ‘cause they’re really delicious—but we should limit these and help our body systems work better, thus burning calories and unwanted fat in our bodies!
This way, we can all proudly wear mini skirts or short sleeved clothes ‘cause if you have it, FLAUNT IT!

Traveling a lot can help you discover many things. The thing I enjoy most about traveling is that you get to taste a lot of food. You don’t get to taste these food anywhere, anytime, but since you travel to these places, not only do you get to taste ordinary versions of these food, you also get to taste their SPECIALTIES!

Tasting a lot of food can give you stomach trouble though. So I suggest you undergo a colon cleanse so you can make sure your colon is healthy, as the old saying goes : “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!”.

a better option

In this busy world, where people could hardly give time for themselves so as to eat a well-balanced diet even in their homes, the option is to take food supplements. True enough, even the meals sold at the fast foods contain less nutrients needed by the body, for these are either over fried or over boiled. Further, let us bear in mind that these type of foods contain more sodium chloride (salt) and mono sodium glutamate (msg) which if taken excessively will harm the body.

My family believes on the benefits derived from the food supplements. Lately, my Mom brought home a unique, affordable and effective food supplement with curcumin. With my research, I learned that curcumin has the power to block inflammation, stop cancer, kill infectious microbes and improve heart health. As such, people taking food supplement that act as disease-fighting agent will have a strong healthy immune system. If taking food supplement is a better option to be healthy, combine it with your favorite exercise, then you will have the best option to live longer and happier.

Unlike most people, I am not a coffee fan. I don’t live and breathe coffee. If I’m going to categorize myself, I’d say I’m a social drinker when it comes to coffee. That is, I only drink coffee for bonding sessions with my friends. But when I do drink, I really drink the expensive ones.

Still, I’m quite amazed with the different coffee makers and espresso machines I see at each coffee house. My friend, who’s so much into coffee, is actually planning to brew her own espresso coffee in her own house by buying one of those fascinating espresso makers. The one she likes is quite expensive though. Then again, if you’re a coffee addict, having your very own coffee machine is definitely a worthy investment.

I love food and two of my favorites are pizza and pasta. Consequently, I am also a fan of Italian restaurants.

My friend Dof, who lives in San Diego, knows how fond I am of pizza and pasta. Dof boasted that he tasted the best Italian pizza and pasta in Trattoria Acqua, one of the restaurants in La Jolla. They actually have a website and I found out that it is included in the “Top 10 Italian Dining destinations in America” by USA Today magazine, and received the “Italian Gold Award” by Southern California’s Restaurant Writers Association consistently from 2001-2006. Definitely a must not miss Italian restaurant.

Since I live far, he promised me that if I do visit them, he’ll buy me dinner at that restaurant. For now, I am content in just sharing my friend’s new discovery to my blog readers. In case you’re near there and would like to have a taste of authentic home style Italian food in a Mediterranean setting, Trattoria Acqua is located at 1298 Prospect Street in La Jolla, California.

With my resignation, effective September 15, I’ll be having more free time since I intend to just study PHP and MySQL online while doing some freelance writing. I intend to use that free time wisely by taking courses that I have postponed for several years; one of which is recreational cooking classes.

For people like me who savors and devours food with passion, it’s only appropriate that I learn proper technique and seasonal ingredients. That way, when the occasion arises, I can just grab any chefs free recipes and prepare it.

Right now, there’s a huge variety of classes that teach how to cook virtually every food on earth. All classes are of course hands-on so students can truly learn through participation. There are daytime classes, weekend classes and evening cooking classes to suit every schedule. I think I’ll go for the evening cooking class so I can grab a coffee with old friends after each class.

I quoted the title from Marcella Hazan. I agree. As Julia Child put it, “Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or wood carving, or music.” The best part about cooking, unlike other type of arts, is that you get to eat it!

I have talked to several chefs and experienced cooks. And whenever I ask them what their secret is, they usually say, “Make sure that when you cook, you do it wholeheartedly. Because how you’re feeling while you’re preparing the food often reflects in your cooked dish.” Well, that, and Laiko Bahrs, “When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.”

Also, it’s always a plus to have a great cooking instructor and to enroll in a culinary school like http://www.wci.edu/.

Last July 2, on our monthly general assembly, my boss insisted that we each cook a dish and bring it for our first-ever pot luck lunch. This was initiated by our endless, but more than de rigueur, grievances with our everyday catered lunches (as one of my officemates described our lunches, “You’d envy those that are starving because at least they aren’t FORCED to eat these.”).

Anyhow, the pot luck lunch is actually a contest on who can cook better than our caterer, and who can bring the most appetizing dish. At the end of the almost-two-buffet-rounds-per-person lunch, my boss asked us to vote for the best dish (excluding the ones we prepared). Guess which dish got 5 out of 12 votes? My Chicken Curry! ^_^

Considering that it’s the only decent dish I can cook (minus all the fried ones), and I just learned it this year for my sister’s birthday, I think I may have a future in cooking. I ought to start trying out new dishes. Perhaps even enroll in a cooking school such as http://www.baychef.com/ and try to make a living out of it afterwards. Hmmmm…
