Quick weight loss

Yes, you can shed off those pounds quick! Here are some quick weight loss tips:

-Cut down on bad fats and complex carbohydrates. How do you know if they are bad? Firstly, if it’s fats or carbohydrates from processed food. Carbohydrates from white flour – white bread, white cakes, etc. are also not good for you. White rice is not as good as well. So white is not always nice.

-Eat more fiber-rich foods, especially fruits and vegetables. Yes, to replace the bad calories, replace them with good! Instead of white bread, opt for the fiber-rich whole-grain bread. And, take note that not all fats are bad. The fat from an avocado, for example, can actually help in your body’s absorption of the vitamins and minerals from your fruits and vegetables.

-Drink plenty of water. Yes – detox, detox, detox!

-Exercise. If you are aiming for quick weight loss, this should be part of your routine. A 20-30 minute-cardio is good enough.

While having my digital perm – which lasted for around four hours by the way – I get to browse over lots of girly magazines. I was surprised to find that there’s actually a section in a magazine who ranks thermogenic fat burners into: a) Fat burning power and results; b) Quality of ingredients (no harmful chemicals); and c) Overall value: considering price, results, and recommendations. I guess women are really busy nowadays that spending some time to exercise is already considered a luxury. Consequently, they opt for the easy way to lose weight – pills.

I’m lucky my friend from HP made me his gym buddy. Consequently, I get to have a 70% discount in the elite membership at the Gold’s Gym near my new office. The gym’s just a few blocks away and I can go there before or after work. ^_^ For me, nothing beats exercise. To cap it off, they have sauna which I can use at anytime. Oh, and did I mention that the membership package includes a rhythm and pulse (read “belly dancing”) class on Tuesdays and striptease class every Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.? I’m so looking forward to joining those classes!

Ever since I hit puberty I’ve been having severe acne problem on my chin. Pimples occur every now and then on my face, especially when I’m really stressed. However, the case on my chin is really horrible. I’ve tried a lot remedies to get rid of my chin acne and even read a lot of books on how to treat acne.

During this time, I was shocked to find out that a simple conversation with my colleague in the washroom was all I needed to solve my chin acne problem. She advised me to try switching my toothpaste. She furthered that it’s possible that my toothpaste is actually the culprit that’s been causing those severe pimples because of the harsh ingredients that unavoidably drips on my chin after every brushing. I tried that and with a simple toothpaste switch, I got rid of those chin pimples!

So for those experiencing the same problem, try the toothpaste switch solution! ;)

Although it’s good to take daily vitamins and food supplements, it is still very important to include exercise in your routine. Contrary to popular belief, exercise doesn’t have to be daily. Normally, two days a week for around two hours of exercise session will most of the time already be enough – especially for those with a very hectic schedule.

Believe it or not, those precious four hours can make a huge difference not only on how you look, but on your disposition as well. I should know, because I recently reintegrated those workout schedules back in my weekly routine and I personally noticed a significant change in my mood. I’m definitely more energetic and less pessimistic and grouchy. Thus the saying “Do good, look good, feel good” applies. If you exercise regularly (Do good), you will be able to achieve your desired goal – maintenance or improvement in figure (Look good), and at the same time have an ego boost for looking gorgeous, so you become more confident (Feel good).

So do not just take vitamins, make sure you get enough time to exercise as well!

Caring For The Old Folks

My parents are getting old, and when people get old, they sometimes experience involuntary urination or defecation. It ends up being a whole mess so we all want to avoid that kind of situation.

I looked around and searched for decent incontinence products that wouldn’t ever make them the uncomfortable. I think it would be very useful for them.

I’m not too familiar with the brands to use, yet, though. Do you guys have any ideas? Feel free to comment. :)

Although treatments like acne pills, cream and lotion are now the common remedy for acne problems, I suggest you still add Vitamin C to your daily consumption – some of the best sources are fruits like orange and calamansi.

It can work wonders, I tell you. Having enough Vitamin C in tandem with your acne treatment will not only enable you to have a pimple free face but also give you a healthy, pinkish-white glow. Something you rarely see nowadays.

For the really skin conscious, I suggest you take conzace since it has Vit A 5,000 iu, vit E 100 iu, vit C 500 mg which are all good for the skin. This was recommended to me by my dermatologist and has been proven very effective. In any case, you can just stick to 500-1,000 grams of ascorbic acid to get your daily Vitamin C needs.

My sister Anne approached me last night asking what facial products I was using. I raised my eyebrows in question. She said that after all these years; she’s finally concerned on the event of her actually getting wrinkles. I shared the products I’m currently applying, including my daily regimen. However, I warned her not to try it first since we both have different skin types and she would most likely need a different set of products.

If you’re confused on how to achieve and maintain a clear, smooth and silky skin, the first step is always to do your research. There are tons of sites out there that provide a lot of useful skin care information such as proactiv reviews. After all, beauty products can be very expensive. Trying each of them is not only costly but is also time consuming. Not to mention the scary part of the products doing more damage than good. Second is to seek your dermatologist’s advice. More often than not, they are able to assess your skin’s needs and provide you with options that will best suit your budget and achieve your goals at the same time.

All the long hours of work, topped with poor eating habit made me feel weaker everyday. I consulted my doctor and she made me take the stress test. The stress test is a series of activities done in a controlled environment to measure the body’s tolerance to (what else?) stress. I was asked to run on a treadmill on a slow to fast pace while an ECG and a spirometer is connected to monitor my breathing and heart rate. These kinds of tests are usually done on older patients but since my doctor is a friend of mine, she gave me special treatment. hehe.

Anyhow, it seems my stress level is at par with a 50 year old. Since I am still half that age, the results were obviously not good. I was advised to change my eating habits and try to get more rigorous exercise to increase my endurance. I already knew this from the beginning, I just wanted to hear it from an expert to oblige me to do something about it.

It’s almost summer in my country! Although I’m quite happy with my current figure right now, I still think I need to get a quick trim on my belly. I want it really flat and sexy so I can wear this gorgeous red bikini I saw in the mall.

It’s a good thing my company tied up with the Bikram Yoga studio near my place. Right now I’m able to attend the 6:30 p.m. yoga classes at least twice a week. This will definitely help me maintain my figure. For the belly problem, my doctor advised me to trim down on salty foods since it causes water retention making my belly look bloated. This one’s going to be really tough. I’m a salt fan after all. I’d choose salty food over desserts at anytime!

Oh well, no pain, no gain. Less salt diet it is!

I just realized that my sister Anne’s wedding is very near! I already have THE dress – a gold and black haltered dress with 3 roses on the side. Unfortunately, I don’t have THE back for it. That is, I don’t have flawless back, thanks to my back acne. I actually used to have a flawless back until recently. *sigh*

Consequently, out of panic, I finally decided to seek my dermatologist’s help. During the check-up, she asked me a very odd question, “Did you switch your shampoo?” I went, “Huh?” She elaborated, “Shampoo is something most of us use on a daily basis and are sometimes what’s causing back acne. This is because shampoo not only comes into contact with our hair, but also our skin. So if you recently changed your shampoo, try switching to another one.” *Ding!* That’s it! I’ve been using a new shampoo since December – I got it as a gift from our office Christmas party.

My dermatologist furthered that I should avoid shampoo and conditioners that give pearlized look since they usually cause back, chest, and shoulder acne (especially for those with long hair). Who would’ve thought that avoiding those type of hair products are almost like natural remedies for acne?

I’m soooo happy! It was just the shampoo, after all!
