It’s funny how offices install video surveillance equipment but do not monitor them. Just last week, one of the LCD’s magically disappeared from the server room and no one seemed to notice until I ran over the inventory. And so I asked the security administrators if they had logs of equipment repairs but they did not find any. Then when I asked if they had the security cameras turned on, they said yes however, it is not being recorded. Hehe. So basically our security system is useless. Anyhow, an investigation took place and it turns out that my boss took the LCD and placed it in his office. That explains why there is no log about that. Oh well.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but the Philippines is in a state of calamity right now due to Typhoon Ondoy (international name Ketsana) which hit the country last September 26, 2009. The country, according to reports, the amount of rainfall in nine hours last Saturday was more than the average monthly rainfall in Metro Manila.

According to more news, as of September 27, Sunday, at least 73 persons were killed and nearly 70,000 families were displaced by massive flooding after tropical storm Ondoy. Based from what I’ve seen in the news both online and offline, a lot of Filipinos have severely damaged houses due to the massive flooding. Some houses were only damaged in the first floors of their house and all they have to do is clean up their furniture, kitchen faucet and floor tiles. However, many houses there are bungalow type, making them now uninhabitable.

Two more typhoons are expected to hit the country within the week as well (Typhoon Parma over the weekend). Let us pray that everyone will be safe and will survive this calamity.

Japan in April 2010

Hanami 2010

Unlike some people whose sole purpose in life is to get thin by taking diet pills, I have been dreaming of learning Nihongo since I was in high school. With that of course, being able to go to Japan is already a given on my list of “must do”.

As Paulo Coelho wrote in The Alchemist, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” I have been wanting it, with all my heart. And by the looks of it, I am already on my way to achieving it – by April 2010, if all goes well. ^^;

You see, I met my friend Mark last year and he’s been coaching me in Nihongo and giving me text books on how to learn Japanese. There’s also my friend Romar and JC, who’s currently residing in Japan, and both are willing to give me a one week tour plus free accommodation when I have the means (i.e. cash) to be able to go to Japan.

With my friend Mark helping me with my finances as well, I just might be able to make it in time for Hanami (花見?, lit. “flower viewing”) next year. *cross fingers* I can’t wait to post pictures of it here. ^_^ Wish me luck!

After finding out that my colleague Grace’s grandmother died yesterday at 2 p.m. out of old age, I immediately contacted Haycee, an old friend and ex-colleague who was also Grace’s neighbor, and arranged to meet her this morning to be able to go to the wake. You see, Grace’s grandmother’s place was a good two-hour drive from my place and I’m unfamiliar with the location.

Haycee was momentarily stunned when she came to greet me at her house’s entrance. She gushed, “Whatever happened to your pimples?!” I too, was quite stunned at her greeting, and then I remembered that it’s been more than a year since I saw her. The last time was in August 2008 when I paid my respects when Haycee’s grandmother died.

I laughed at her stunned expression and shared that I’ve been using an acne and anti wrinkle cream upon my dermatologist’s recommendation. Obviously, it works. ^_^ She was still in awe and found it amazing that there are no traces of my pimples, at all.

Anyhow, having paid our respects to Grace’s family, I stayed at Haycee’s for awhile to catch up with her. We ended up playing Chopsticks and Blue Moon on her piano, with her promising to play and/or sing “Love is the Answer” on my wedding march (whenever that may be).

Although it was unfortunate that we meet again in this circumstance, meeting Haycee was definitely the silver lining in the could-have-been very melancholic affair.

What do you know, my panic attack last June 29 on the upcoming wedding of JC & Hiroko, was unnecessary. I just needed enough sleep and rest.

I ranked 2nd runner up in the wedding entourage participants according to my PA at that time. Hehehe. Not bad for someone who got sick. And I did feel pretty. ^_^ The bridesmaid pink and black gown suits me. It had that unusual girlish-goth effect.

Come to think of it, life’s funny. While the rest of my friends who attended the wedding are seeking for the best weight loss supplements to trim down to fit in their gowns, I’m doing my best to eat a lot and glow to fill up to my gown. I’m just glad I’m not on their shoe. It’s definitely more fun feeding yourself than depriving yourself dontcha think? 0;)

I need to GLOW. Fast.

JC’s wedding is so near I’m actually panicking! Well, I’m not only panicking due to the fact that I just found out that they made me a secondary sponsor, so I really need to contribute a considerable amount of cash as wedding gift; my current health state is a disaster.

At the moment, after experiencing stress-related diarrhea for two weeks just last month, and having just been diagnosed with URTI bacterial infection yesterday, I’d really more than pass as a model for one of those weight loss pills reviews magazines, only, a sad version of it.

I need to GLOW. Fast. But first, I need to recover from URTI. *sigh* God help me.

House Hopping

I’ve been knocking on all of my friends’ doors this week. I guess I just missed them. I traveled from house to house seeking shelter and girl bondings.

As I was hopping from house to house, I kept sleeping on various beds. I personally like a friend of mine’s sleep number bed. It’s amusing to think that a bed can be that luxurious. It’s so comfortable and nifty. Try sleeping in one.

Our CEO needed great, lively, professional pictures to be placed in our company website. Consequently, we had a company picture taking this morning.

Everyone was required to come in today – that includes the night shift people. I was surprised at how big the company has become in a short span of four years. You may not believe it, but we started with just four people in May 2004 and we’re now 178. 0:D

It’s the first time we did a company picture taking in years so I met a lot of noobs and reconnected with old colleagues I haven’t seen in a while due to our differences in shifts. It’s amazing to see that some of them actually lost weight; some even dramatically. According to one of my colleague, the dramatic weight-loss of some people was due to diet supplements like Fenphedra. Quite interesting.

Anyhow, I hope I need not resort to that. I’m happy with the way I am. As is. ^_^

Christmas reunions panic

Christmas celebration for me is usually tantamount to reunions. High school and college alumni homecoming, family reunions… you name it, it’s all lined up in my Christmas break calendar. Even my old neighbors are inviting me to a reunion this break!

This got me into thinking… I need to lose my tummy fats – pronto!

My officemate, who recently and miraculously shrunk into a size six, is currently taking Lipovox, a “Super Foods” supplement. According to her, it helped her burn 400% more fat than just dieting and exercising. To cap it off, it has acne and wrinkle fighting agents. Pretty cool for a food supplement. To ensure a gorgeous figure when I attend those reunions, I just might order a bottle of that capsule this week. What do you recommend?
