one productive activity

Whenever I have free time, one of the things I love doing is watching the television. Since childhood, I have learned the fact that this activity can be quite productive (contrary to what a small percentage of the population think). It is possible to learn a lot from just sitting or lying down and staring at the television.

For example, today I learned how interesting it is to have a Miami wedding in a beach. I was watching this show called “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway”, in Entertainment Channel (I think). They featured this couple who particularly wanted a wedding on a beach in Miami. So they hired a wedding coordinator, who first asked them if they have a particular beach in mind. This was a hard question because there really are a lot of beautiful beaches in Miami, and they had shared beautiful memories in most of them. I pondered on that question so much that I decide to do a research on “Miami Weddings”. One neat website I found was http://miami.1weddingsource.com. They even have articles on wedding ceremony locations, which included contact information so you can ask around for the best offer there is. This, I learned as very important to consider in planning a wedding.

At the end of the show, the couple had their dream wedding (so they say), and I learned more about weddings…and all because I watched TV!

I’ve heard of people donating canned goods, clothes, blankets, and even cash to the needy… but cars? Now that’s something new.

Now where did I get this out of this world idea, and why would anyone donate car? It’s simple, really. I encountered Car Angel Ministries (a non-profit company)’ website explaining that carangel.com is an avenue for voluntary donors to use their vehicle, boat or trailer to help single mothers, homeless, teen and adult rehab, food distribution and orphans meet their needs. Just so you know, the money they raise is used to make videos like this one: http://youtube.com/user/boatangel

The best thing about this is that you can actually select the charity organization you want to benefit from your car donation. Oh, and you need not worry about the scheduling towing and title transfers – they will do it for you.

So for those of you who wants to get rid of an unwanted car and be able to help out children at the same time, consider donating it to Car Angel.

I’m a huge Maroon 5 fan. I love their songs “Sunday Morning” and “She Will be Loved” from their album “Songs About Jane”. Listening to them brings a lot of memories. There was even a time when my sisters and I did a cover of “She Will be Loved” in one of our gigs. However, for some cosmic catastrophic reasons, I’ve never been to any of their concerts. That’s why right now, I’m settling with just listening to their CDs and watching their live concerts on DVDs.

Then my friend who’s working in Germany, called. She informed me that Maroon 5 will be having a concert at Antwerps Sportpaleis/Lotto Arena, Antwerpen this coming December 12. Since it’s near her place she said she’ll be going to the concert and will try to get the band’s autograph for me as my Christmas present. ^_^ I was so ecstatic that I helped her buy Tickets online via Viagogo.de – an online ticket hub for Konzert Tickets, sports tickets, arts and Theater Tickets and other exclusive event tickets in Germany. I found out about the website from my cousin. She assured me that transactions with that website are guaranteed to be safe and secure, plus they deliver tickets promptly with online tracking.

I really hope my friend will be able to get a backstage pass at Maroon 5’s concert so she can have them sign the posters and CDs.

I love festivals. I love those events to the point of sometimes asking my friends to invite me to stay at their place for any festival.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any friends who live in Perth, Australia so I can cheaply participate in the upcoming Perth International Arts Festival. The closest is Melbourne Accommodation care of my cousin. He also manages some Hotels in Adelaide so if I want to be nearer Perth, he said he could give me some discounts in one of those hotels. Due to the distance barrier (Adelaide to Perth), I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy the Festival at all. It would be costly too to commute, so I declined. I ended up booking in one of the Hotels in Perth.

In case you don’t know, the Perth International Arts Festival is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere, and it annually offers some of the world’s best theatre, music, film, visual arts, street arts, literature and free community events. With that information, I’m sure you now understand why I want to be in Perth, Australia sometime from February 8 to March 2, 2008 for the said event. Hope to see ya there!
