Got caught on overspeeding (again)
Author: admin
I was so upset earlier because for the second time, I was caught overspeeding. The streets here in the city are equipped with radar detectors so violators are easily apprehended. Since the system is automated, I wonder if it is really that accurate. I did some research on how a radar detector works.
From what I learned, the principle or radars are adopted from bats. Yes, those flying creatures of dracula. Bats are basically blind so they need some special way to see things. Bats shout out high pitched sounds and measure the echo. The more delay of the echo, the more distant the object ahead. Of course, they will need to emit these sounds frequently to maintain sight.
As for radar, the concept is the same. The only difference is instead of high pitched sounds, radar emits very high frequencies and measure its delay of return. So when properly calibrated, radars are highly accurate. So I guess I have no escape with my speeding ticket then. Sigh.
