Through Thick And Thin

I have been planning to get one of my closest friends who lives abroad a special gift for quite a while now. The fact that she’s one of the very few people who knows everything about me yet still doesn’t turn the other way around makes her very dear to me. Call me cheesy, but it’s something I appreciate a lot.

She’s always been there for me, through thick and thin, even though she’s far away. She never fails to make me smile with all the little things she does.

I thought about getting her RedEnvelope gifts, and flying to Canada myself. They just have quite a wide variety of options to choose from, and that’s what I like most when shopping online. I’m sure she’ll appreciate this when she receives it.

If you have any RedEnvelope gifts to recommend, kindly let me know by commenting on this post, any form of reply would be greatly appreciated!

Lost and found netbook!

Have you ever been in a situation where in your integrity is tested? Earlier, while on the bus, on my way to work, I found a paper bag containing some used magazines and a small laptop. There were no clues on who the owner is. At first I thought of just handing it to the bus driver but chose not to because they are very notorious for not giving back lost and found stuff. So what I did was just bring the laptop to work.

It was a very new laptop a netbook actually, as I have discovered from netbook reviews from the net. It was just out last month. The owner must have forgotten it and probably wants it back. Honestly I was tempted to just keep it for it was actually one of my dream laptop. However I thought of what it would be like in case I am the one who lost it. And so, on my way home, I just surrendered it to the police department. They’ll be the one to handle it.

“Running is the new Badminton” – this is the slogan of an organization in my company. This organization is formed by a group of employees who do running as a sport. You’ll usually see this guys running around the park after work. Earlier, I had a chance to attend one of their pre-running meetings and I could say that I am really interested in joining.

There were some good facts I learned from the discussion. One is running burns faster that any other exercise you can think of. Running makes use of all your muscles, not only the legs. Maintaining balance while running makes use of neck, back, shoulder, ab, or basically every muscle group in the body. Best thing about it is, even if you stop for a day, the fat keeps on burning.

Another thing I’ve learned is that men’s running shorts , shirts and shoes are not that cheap. At first I thought this sport is basically free because you do not have to buy anything. However, I found out that if anyone plans to do running as a sport, they must be equipped with running attire – especially running shoes.

Anyhow, on Saturday I will attend a fund raising run. It is my first time so I’ll do a three kilometer run first.  If all goes well, I’ll do this running sport more often.

Antique fans

We went to my aunt’s place yesterday because she just moved to it, and we thought a house warming would be appropriate, and I can only say one thing: I fell in love with Hunter fans since I went to her place.

I just find it amazing how the company combined 19th-century craftsmanship with 21st-century design and innovation to create such a wonderful object.

The look and feel that it gives a home is also wonderful. Whenever I stare at the ceiling fan, it’s like I’m in the 19th century all over again. It just has this antique and vintage feel to it, and tell me, whoever in their right mind would hate vintage things?!

The fact that it’s a great source of light AND ventilation is amazing, it’s like hitting two birds with one stone!

If you are a furniture enthusiast like I am, this product is definitely something you wouldn’t regret buying or even just checking out.

Places I Love

Traveling is one of the many things that I love in this life. Being able to explore many places and meet new people, especially the fact that I can embrace a culture other than mine’s. It is such a thrilling experience, and quite a privilege not everyone gets to have.

One of the places I’d like to visit most would be London. Aside from the fact that I have many friends there, I love the way they dress up, mostly. I have seen so many photos of Europeans and I can say they’re nothing short of lovely.

Another one would be New York City, the city that never sleeps. Who wouldn’t want to visit that, anyway?

My aunt recommended me to look for Orlando vacations for she’s been there and she fell in love with the place. I still couldn’t find one that I particularly like, however. If you have any to recommend feel free to comment here, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For people who love traveling with their RV’s, you may want to consider getting an emergency assistance package. Emergency assistance services are similar to travel insurance, only better. For instance, you are traveling with your family in an RV then in an unfortunate travel emergency, grandma suddenly collapses and needs to be sent to the nearest hospital, only to find out that that hospital does not have resources to handle gandma’s condition. With Emergency assistance services, you just need to call their number and they will attend to you right away. They arrange the transportation to any medical hospital suitable for the condition. In some cases, they can also provide air-lift if necessary.

What’s great about this is, they will take your RV and your family home, in case you were the one who got sick. This kind of service is really helpful for those who want adventure in some remote places far from any medical institutions. Right now, my friends and I are considering getting this kind of service for our travel.
