I’ve been having difficulty sleeping lately due to the erratic, drastic change in temperature. One minute it’s so cold, the next, you’ll be sweating like hell… *sigh* I’m planning to buy an AC for my room soon to prevent this problem. I might get an axiom mattress and roman blinds as well to maximize my sleeping comfort.

But those room improvements will definitely take a huge chunk off my pocket… Oh well, I’m almost debt free, thanks to my friend and Executive Secretary for Finance, Mark. I’ll probably be able to buy those by October. *cross fingers*

Parkour guys on the road

I recently noticed a group of teens running around and doing some stunts (sort of). Instead of the usual skaters jumping off their skateboard ramps, members jump, and even spin on and under railings and boxes while running towards their target place. One of them saw me staring at them and ran towards me. He gave me a pamphlet inviting me to their club. It’s a small organization doing running stunts – Parkour. I just laughed when the guy invited me to join; I told him that I wasn’t onto those kinds of sports, although I was fascinated with what they were doing.

Parkour, as explained by Nathan (one of the members) originated from the French. It is considered a form of martial arts which is focused on efficiently moving from one place to another. The methods consist of running through usual obstacles with speed and grace. Agility and balance is very important in this sport as well as dedication and discipline. It is similar to “free running” – an urban acrobatic sport.

Nathan said that we adults tend to forget that we started this running and jumping when we were still kids. This is supposed to be natural for us but since we stopped playing around, our bodies adjusted and got used to slow movement. What he said got me thinking, he has a point. However, because of my busy schedule (and my laziness), I just passed on the opportunity and just enjoyed watching.

My younger brother messaged me earlier to tell me that his cellphone got stolen in his own room while he was sleeping. Alarmed, I immediately called him and asked what happened. He said he slept at 3 a.m. after finishing his school paper. He left the lights on so obviously anyone near the fence will see the room clearly. Unfortunately, he placed his phone on the work desk which was near the window so the thief just cut through the window screen and grabbed the phone.

Later on I found out that the thief also stole the BMX bike which was parked in the backyard. Investigators already found some evidences linking the crime to some teens roaming around the streets at night.

Crimes like these are common nowadays. Crimes made by just teenagers which are usually onto drugs. One reason why these is becoming common is drugs are easier to purchase now especially in the internet. Drugs like Ecstacy and Metamphetamine which are sold as herbal stimulants in the internet.

Teens involved in drugs are likely to become criminals in the future. So if you know anyone using illegal drugs, do them a favor and send them to a drug rehab before things get worse. Remember, these teens are victims of the syndicates in the streets. As for the thief who stole my brother’s phone, the police have already identified him and is already on the hunt.

Early morning climb

2 a.m. yesterday, our office building had been temporarily closed due to fire. The building’s basement went up in smoke because of some problem in the main electrical supply. Fortunately, firefighters stopped the fire immediately so no other floors were affected. The building technicians managed to repair at least the necessary electrical lines for the tenants to operate leaving the other facilities like the escalators, elevators, and restroom room heaters non-working.

So early this morning, we were forced to just use the stairs to go up the office. You could imagine us all sweaty and breathless as we climb twenty five floors to the office. We almost looked like POW’s heading to the prison chambers. Some guys though were laughing as we climbed up, saying that, “this is probably another company benefit – burn fat for free”. Oh well, at least the elevators will already be available this afternoon. This is going to be a long day…

My mobile postpaid plan has been under my mom’s name since it was activated. You see, I got that plan after I graduated from college, but at that time, I didn’t have one of the requirements to avail of it under my name - a proof of billing.

I’ve been meaning to have that phone line transferred to my name not only for formality’s sake but for tax shield purposes as well – I can only use receipts that are billed under my name for tax shield. However, the transfer of billing, even from mother to daughter, wasn’t allowed until the 2nd quarter of 2009.

Back then when I inquired, they said if I wanted to retain my current mobile number and have it placed under my name, they’ll have to cut the line and make me wait for six months to reactivate it to a different user – me. I happen to love my mobile number since my entire birth date is there, so I decided to just continue paying under my mom’s name. Imagine the hassle and confusion to my contacts if I got a new mobile number for six months and revert back to my current number.

Anyway, as soon as I learned that the transferring of billing for that mobile network is now possible without having to have your phone line cut, I immediately availed of it… plus the two year rebate and one of the free ipods which they’re giving away to loyal customers of more than two years like me. ^_^

I made sure to emphasize on the transferring of loyalty as well on my mom’s letter of transfer request so I could get those freebies. tee hee 0:p
