on having a first aid kit
Author: wisteria
My cousin Abi, a medical student, went to a party in Manhattan, New York to unwind with Chad and I to celebrate their colleague’s 32nd birthday. We had so much fun — liquors, rave music, flashing lights, food and the crowd dancing with the beat.
After the party, on our way home, Chad experienced a throbbing pain localized on one side of his head for almost 3 hours already. Later on, he experienced nausea and was very irritated at everything. Her presumptive diagnosis was migraine, a neurological disease aggravated by loud music, bright or flashing lights, smoking or exposure to smoke, change in temperature and traveling at high elevations. She stopped the car and attended to her boyfriend’s needs while I was told to search for her analgesic in her handbag. Chad took it and she advised him to rest for a while and drove him home. Chad was grateful he felt better after taking the analgesic.
Goes to show how important it is to have a first aid kit in your bag at all times.

difficulties of a traveling pregnant
Author: wisteria
I woke up passed 3 a.m. this Christmas with a call from my cousin Rika who’s currently based in Oregon. She was on her way to my place to spend a week from an argument with her husband. She inquired if my cousin Abi, a med student, can pick her up in Oregon for safety measures since she is on her 28th week of gestation.
My cousin reminded Rika to bring with her the nutritional supplements prescribed by her ob-gyn. It is in a compartmentalized container labeled with the days of the week as travelling can mean time changes and disruptions to her daily schedule. And of course, my cousin stored some healthy foods like fruits and veggies for Rika and her baby in case they get hungry while on the road.
Geez, I didn’t know a pregnant traveling can be quite difficult.
take me to the Rhapsody of the Seas
Author: wisteria
Since I started working last 2004, the Asian Cruise has been on my list of “must save up for”. Unfortunately, I still don’t have enough money to be on an Asian Cruise. To cap it off, I don’t want to go on an Asian Cruise alone… That would be very dismal.
Quite determined to make my dream into reality, I decided to do some canvassing and came across the Rhapsody of the Seas – one of the cruise ships of royal caribbean. Its 5 Night Southeast Asia cruise is simply perfect with these as its “Ports of Call”: Hong Kong, China | Okinawa, Japan | Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan | Kao-Hsiung, Taiwan.
Somebody please help me go aboard that ship! I’m accepting donations and sponsorship, if you must know. Hehehe.
a funny car cover
Author: wisteria
If you want to protect your cars from the elements of nature such as sunlight, rainfall, dust, snow and others, you have to choose quality car covers.
However, my friend James, just for fun, ordered a custom-fit car cover with a hand-painted design depicting an old dilapidated car. The said car cover was perfectly made and if fits the car very well to the extent that you will not be able to recognize that it is only car cover. Jokingly, when he was asked why he ordered that unique car cover, he said, “It is a very good anti-car napping device”.
observations of a coffee social drinker
Author: wisteria
Unlike most people, I am not a coffee fan. I don’t live and breathe coffee. If I’m going to categorize myself, I’d say I’m a social drinker when it comes to coffee. That is, I only drink coffee for bonding sessions with my friends. But when I do drink, I really drink the expensive ones.
Still, I’m quite amazed with the different coffee makers and espresso machines I see at each coffee house. My friend, who’s so much into coffee, is actually planning to brew her own espresso coffee in her own house by buying one of those fascinating espresso makers. The one she likes is quite expensive though. Then again, if you’re a coffee addict, having your very own coffee machine is definitely a worthy investment.
wine, oh wine
Author: wisteria
I love wine. It can sometimes be pretty expensive, but nevertheless, the expensive ones are definitely worth saving for. Especially if you know which food goes best with a particular type of wine… it can be utterly delightful.
I know a lot of people are into wines. But I was amazed to find out that there’s a wine club existing – The Gold Medal Wine Club. Interesting huh? What’s unique about this wine of the month club is that they pick wines based from the high ratings of renowned wine publications and the awards in wine competitions, not just based from the usual what the club thinks is great.
So, if you’re looking for good quality wine, I suggest you check out their recommendations. I’m sure you will not be disappointed especially with their featured wines. You might also want to consider joining that club to avail of the 45% off of winery-direct prices. I am.
check your batteries, please
Author: wisteria
“Say cheese!” your friend shouts while holding a nice angle for the camera.
You happily oblige, paste that charming smile and hold that pose. Then the camera conks out.
Running out of battery can be one of the saddest things that could happen to you when travelling with a gadget – if you’re not careful. My advice? Make sure that your battery is fully charged before going anywhere. Also, bring extra sets in case of emergency. Oh, and it wouldn’t hurt if you opt for lithium battery as a high capacity replacement for your normal camera battery.
finding an MBA abroad
Author: wisteria
I have been planning to take up Masters in Business Administration abroad to get myself an upgrade. There are really a lot of different strategies right now that are more effective. Nowadays, even business performance management can be done so simply with the help of a user-friendly software.
Generally, the requirements to be able to get into an MBA program involve having experience as a manager for at least two years. With my recent promotion as the project manager, this knowledge upgrade and career boost is now feasible.
I’m currently busy browsing over and comparing MBA courses offered by schools like the Harvard Business School, the UCLA Anderson School of Management, or the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Can anyone recommend a good business school aside from those I already mentioned?
appealing Vegas rooms - thanks to CSI
Author: wisteria
I have been watching a marathon of CSI Las Vegas since Wednesday and with each episode, my longing to go to that place is being reinforced.
Crime scenes aside, the Vegas rooms featured in those episodes (the before-the-crime scenery) look very appealing. Those comfortable, huge beds covered with sleek classic sheets, the intricate designs of the walls… So appealing in fact, that I just might avail of a two-step booking process in one of the Las Vegas hotels.
Hmmm… why not?! 0:D
