In my 25 years in this planet, I’ve met all sorts of people. And I thought I’ve seen and got acquainted with most of them, then there’s a Ticket Broker. I never knew there were walking ticket brokers (except in websites and ticket outlets) until I met Josh. Oh well, to see is to believe.

I met him at my friend’s dinner party. He said it was just part time and he usually does it only for big events like the Beyonce and Dave Matthew’s Band world tour concert. He also referred me to a website which offers tickets. Hmmmm… not bad. It’s great to have acquaintances that can help you get prime seats on concerts at a lower price. Glad I met him. I wonder what type of person I’ll meet next…

on calculating your holidays

I’m flabbergasted. There’s actually an international point system vacation club - Buena Viva Exeter. That is, all you have to do is buy points depending on the number of years you expect to be traveling, the nights you generally spend in a hotel, how much you spend per night in each hotel, the number of people you generally travel with and voila – you’ll get to avail of the widest possible range of holidays in five different continents! They even have a Holiday Calculator to help you answer those questions. Amazing.

Their services pretty much includes anything else you will need when traveling - from efficient bookings and travel insurance, to flights, ferry crossings, car hire, airport parking and even cruises. To cap it off, you not only get to unwind in top class international resorts, your points will even be re-allocated to you each year until 2047!

Dang. I ought to be saving up for cool packages and memberships like this and save myself from the hassle of worrying over my next destination for the next x years.

where is Augsburg?

While having lunch with my friend, Elvis, I overheard a family from the next table talking loudly and excitedly about their plans to visit Augsburg. My head went blank. Literally. I mean, where is Augsburg?!

Since Elvis also has no idea where that is, my curiosity was piqued. I immediately searched for that place as soon as I got back to the office. Thanks to the internet, I don’t have to pull my hairs out of frustration of not knowing where it is. Within seconds, I found out that Augsburg is actually a city in Germany. Half an hour’s drive from that place, you will find the “Legoland Amusement Park” with structures made from 25 million lego bricks. Amazing. I was a big fan of lego when I was a kid. I can’t believe I missed out on this one.

Anyhow, there goes my question – with a satisfied answer. Thanks internet.

Bored, I decided to check out some links my friend gave me which contains fascinating facts about particular places. I’d like to share with you some of them in a hodge podge manner:

  • With more than 1 million visitors each year the most visited attraction in Scotland is Edinburgh Castle.
  • The first Harry Potter book was written in a café in Edinburgh.
  • One of the exceptional buildings of the 20th century listed by UNESCO is the Byker Wall which can be found in Newcastle.
  • The rich heritage of British children’s books are collected, explored, and celebrated in the Seven Stories, Newcastle.
  • More than 6 million specimens and objects are housed in The Manchester Museum.
  • The world’s first ever computer was created in Manchester.

The list could go on… but I’ll save it up for next time. Anyhow, in case these facts whetted your “I must see this place” instinct, I suggest you also avail of a tour package when you go book yourself in an Edinburgh Accomodation, Manchester Accomodation, or one of the Newcastle Hotels. That way, you’re sure not to miss any important destinations and gain more fascinating facts about the places you visit.
